TWISTED LOVE: Concert Reports
Chenka's Dir en grey in Berlin Report
So, Dir en Grey live in Berlin and we went there!
We arrived in Berlin on Friday, 5:15 pm (after a 6 hour trainride from Amsterdam). *will skip the whole pre-concert part*
On Saturday, we went to get our tickets from Neo Tokyo. Went there by U-Bahn and accidentally got out at the wrong stop. So we ended up walking for nearly an hour in immense heat (36 degrees at least). Arrived there at 11, and it was supposed to open at 11 but it didnft. Lots of people were already waiting outside. We decided to go get some ice cream first, then join the line. Around 12 we could finally go in to get our tickets. Really nice tickets by the way, so much better than the Fnac ones xD Also bought some Malice Mizer cd at Neo Tokyo, wanted it for years so.. yah. *ish lame*
Anyway, we didnft really do anything the rest of the day. My friend had sent me a text message that morning saying that she was already at the concert building, along with around 120 other people, all in black. So the only thing we did later that day was going into the Stadtmitte to get me a pink skirt. So, that night, I ended up going there all in bright pink (I mustfve pissed off a lot of people).
We didnft want to sit in front of the concert building all day and get ourselves fried so we arrived there around 7 pm, the time the building was supposed to open. We waited in line, it was really hot and some people fainted. I think the doors only opened at 8 pm? Anyway, the line was moving really really slowly, and we ended up missing the first song. Still very pissed off about that.
And I nearly got attacked by some French girl. That was scary.
When we finally entered the building, it turned out to be even hotter inside there. We immediately lost one person from our group (we were with 5) but the rest of us went into the crowd downstairs to try and see if we could get to the front. After three songs however, we gave up. The heat was just unbearable. It was all fine when you kept your arms up in the air, but when you took them down.. Mustfve been around 45 degrees down there o_O After a few songs I (we) simply didnft have the energy anymore to even blink. So yeah.
The start of the concert was a bit disappointing in my opinion. The music was really good, but Dir en Grey did not really interact with the crowd yet...
Anyway. In that crowd, we lost another person of our group though. But we found the other person back, went outside for a bit to get some air and a few minutes later the first break was announced. I went to get some merchandise; a t-shirt and wristband. Wanted to get some other stuff but alas. The wristband is very Dutch though (we keep joking about how Dir en Grey went to Amsterdam and saw those wristbands and thought they were cool and ordered a few thousand to put gIt withers and withersh on there).
After that break, we decided to go upstairs to the balcony. Not only was the view better, it was also much cooler and you actually had space around you to jump up and down. So we were really satisfied with our places there. The music got even better than it already was and Dir en Grey looked way more happy and started interacting with the crowd more. Toshiya had also put off his jacket-thingy and looked hot *_*
After some time, another break was announced. Went downstairs to get a drink, and was just standing in line but they were kind of ignoring me. So instead I found a mug laying around and filled it with water and ended up accidentally stealing it ^^;; Hehe. Went upstairs again and really enjoyed the rest of the concert. Bouncing on Child Prey was much fun. And I sneaked some illegal cellphone pictures (boooo me >_>).
After the concert there was big chaos. We still had a person missing (and we werenft the only ones!), ambulances were driving around and yes. Chaos. We did find everyone back though, thank gawd, and ended up going back to our hostel around 1:30 am.
Overall, the music was really great (though the sound installation couldfve been a bit better maybe). And [fangirl mode?] my favourite member Toshiya (worship the Bass (capital B) God people!) simply looked way hot[/fangirl mode]. The thing that amused me most was at the end of the concert. Totchi had just put his bass away and came up to the audience looking all cool to throw water at them, when his bass fell over. He turned around, walked to his bass and poured the water over it. That really made me crack up. Cute Totchi ^^
My least favourite part of the night was the heat. But I think everybody agreed with me about that.
...
Did I mention Totchi looked hot? >_>
(And I liked Diefs red hair!)
